05 Jan Don’t Let These 3 Things Hold You Back!
Whether it's real estate or otherwise, there are many things that hold people back from achieving what they're capable of or what they want out of life. Too many people just sit idly by living a mediocre life when they are capable of so much more.
This is something we talk about with all of our Associates and in our community. We're using real estate and terms deals simply as a vessel to help people create their ideal lifestyles. We are setting families up for success and creating generational wealth that will affect future generations for years to come.
And at the end of the day, it's not rocket science. We're primarily helping people overcome the obstacles that they perceive in their path and realize their true potential.
So, with that said, here are three things we find are holding most people back from achieving what they're capable of.
1. Having the Wrong Priorities
It should go without saying that if you want to achieve success in your life—whether that's financial success, successful relationships, a successful career—you need to have the right priorities in place.
Yet too many people's priorities simply don't match where they want to go. The key is to take your goals and then build your priorities off of them. What do you need to prioritize in order to achieve your goals? Then, what do you need to do each and every day (your daily disciplines) to achieve those goals?
Everything should match. Your goals, your priorities, and your daily disciplines. They should all be focused on the same thing and lead to the same end result.
2. Letting Other People Control Your Time
Once again, if you want to be successful, you need to use your time wisely. If someone or something else is controlling your time, then you can't use it wisely. Time management is incredibly important and if you want to do it correctly, you need to start looking at who or what is controlling your time.
Are you putting enough time into your goals and your daily disciplines? If not, why? Who is ultimately controlling your time? It should be you.
If you're looking for a great book on time management, we always recommend Dan Kennedy's NO B.S. Time Management for Entrepreneurs.
3. Having A Tough Time Visualizing the End Result
If you have goals in your life, how much time are you spending each day visualizing and thinking about them? How much time have you spent visualizing and planning for the end result?
If you're like most people, you're not spending enough time doing this or you may have never even done it at all.
This is one of those things that all successful people do. Professional sports players are a great example. They have visualized the win so many times that they know exactly what it will feel like. When they get to the field, there are no surprises because they have already envisioned everything happening. They do it every day.
You can do it too. Visualize what your end result will look like and get super-specific. Then, keep doing it. The more you visualize it, the clearer it will be in your head. The clearer it is, the easier it will be to plan it out and achieve it.
I know you've heard this a million times. Well, the reason you've heard it a million times is because it works. It works in real estate, in sports, in business, and in life. Use visualization!
So how much time daily are you personally spending on visualizing, thinking about, and planning the end result? Because our minds are like parachutes, they’re only going to function when they’re open. You want to be working on your business versus in it. I know you’ve heard it a gazillion times from different people in different venues, but it holds true in real estate and in any business.
